Okahandja is located near a tributary river of Swakop river in 1400 m height. It is a typical namibian small town with a lot of flair. It is the captitel of the homeland of the herero. The graves of their chiefs are there. | ||
Okahandja was founded in 1872 by the "Rheinische Mission". You can see today the church, which was built at that time. 1901 the narrow-gauge railway coming from Swakopmund reached Okahandja. The old railway station is still used. | ||
