Seal colony Cape Cross
|The Portuguese Diego Cao 1486 set up at this
place the first cross.
The reservation has 6.000 ha and was took under protection in 1969.
At Cape Cross there live between 80.000 and 100.000 seals.
|Once a year ca. 5.000 were killed, because they are rivals to the fischermen.|
|In the area there is a museum where they show something about the former whaling and about the extraordinary vegetation of this coastel strip.|
