Seal colony Cape Cross
The Portuguese Diego Cao 1486 set up at this
place the first cross. The reservation has 6.000 ha and was took under protection in 1969. |

At Cape Cross there live between 80.000 and 100.000 seals. |
Once a year ca. 5.000 were killed, because they are rivals to the fischermen. | |
In the area there is a museum where they show something about the former whaling and about the extraordinary vegetation of this coastel strip. |
